Rail and Tube Services
Amersham Railway station is at the end of the Metropolitan Line of London
Underground. Amersham is also served by Chiltern Railways by their London
Marylebone to Aylesbury trains.
You can catch northbound Chiltern Railways' trains to Aylesbury, the
service is half hourly (hourly Sundays).
For trains to London you can either catch the Metropolitan Line trains
into Baker Street and then onward to the City - via Euston, Kings Cross,
Liverpool Street (these take about 45-55 minutes to Baker Street and 60 -
65 minutes to the City) dependimg on the time of day. A faster and more
comfortable service is available by Chiltern Railways' trains into London
Marylebone, taking about 35-40 minutes. Tickets bought at Amersham are
valid on both services and trains run about every 20 minutes.

Taxis
There are taxi ranks at Amersham and Chalfont & Latimer stations.
Heathrow Airport
Heathrow can be reached from Amersham on the tube, but it involves many
changes. A faster, more comfortable route would be train to Marylebone,
taxi to Paddington, then the Heathrow Express to Heathrow.
Bus service A30 runs to Heathrow from Amersham
Alternatively, local taxi firms will do airport runs - use Scoot
or Yell
to locate a firm.

traffic and the market occupies the road.
There are often small markets under the market hall in Old Amersham,
especially on Saturdays.

The Population of the Area
I do not have an up to date population figure for Amersham, but the 2001
census reveals there are 89 thousand people living in the area covered by
Chiltern District. The area includes Amersham, Chesham, the Chalfonts, the
Missendens and surrounding villages. I would estimate Amersham to be over
20 thousand.

Old Amersham
There is on street car parking in Old Amersham and also a pay and display
car park behind the Toyota garage (B & M Garage) off The Broadway -
Dovecote Meadow
There is a pay and display car park at the hospital in Whielden Street,
for use when using the hospital
Amersham on the Hill
There is limited on street parking in Amersham on the Hill.
There are public car parks off Rickmansworth Road (with a foot connection
to Sycamore Road) and Chiltern Avenue (separate car parks for the
community centre, library, Chiltern Pools and Chiltern District Council
Offices). There is also a multi storey car park by the station in Chiltern
Avenue.
Little Chalfont
There is limited on street parking.
A public car park can be found at Snells Wood, off Cokes Lane, close to
the library, community hall and shops.
There is also a pay and display car park at the station.
