A concert by the Chiltern Camerata

http://www.amersham.org.uk/forum/ipb/index.php?app=calendar&module=calendar&section=view&do=showevent&event_id=77

A concert by the Chiltern Camerata

Conductor, Sam Laughton. With Bene't Coldstream, tenor.

The concert is our contribution to the Wycombe Arts Festival 2012, and is something of a special occasion! We are giving an anniversary performance of Finzi s Dies Natalis a marvellous and uplifting work for tenor and string orchestra. The concert celebrates the 60th anniversary of an early performance of this work given in High Wycombe in 1952 by the celebrated tenor, Wilfrid Brown, who at that time was on the brink of a glittering international career. Finzi s biographer Diana McVeagh and members of the composer s family have expressed interest in attending this concert!

Our tenor on this occasion will be Benet Coldstream, who so delighted our audience a year ago with his performance of the role of The Evangelist in Bach s St John Passion.

Quoting Bois Own - The Community Newsletter for Chesham Bois

"This year’s fete is being held in honour of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee which has given us the opportunity to recreate some of the events from the 1952 fete, held to celebrate the Coronation. Local schools and youth organisations will be heavily involved and North Road will be closed to allow more space for all the entertainments planned.
The day will start at 11.30am with a fancy dress parade from the Triangle to the Common & be followed by a children’s picnic on trestle tables the length of North Road. Attractions will include a 1950s band, dancing displays, fun races, a children’s entertainer, stalls, barbecue, tea tent, bar and lots more.
Please put the date in your diary and join us for what promises to be a special day for Chesham Bois."
