Hi there,

I am moving to Little Chalfont in November and have a 3 year old son, I was wondering if anyone knows of any play parks or recreation grounds in chalfont or Amersham. I know Lowndes Park in Chesham has some swings etc but is that the only one? Also are there any indoor play areas as back up with all this rain!
Many thanks for your help.

Amersham has a number - there is the one behind the library/swimming pool area. A new playground has just been put in at Hervines park - at the end of Hervines Road and there is another one in the Old Town, on School Lane.
As for local indoor soft play areas, I think the closest one to Amersham is Zoom in Beaconsfield, next to M&S.
Hope that helps

I really don't like that place. Jungle Mania is much better.

Westwood Park in Little Chalfont. I don't remember seeing any swings or roundabouts there but there's lots of space to run around or kick a ball.
There are also one or two places along the River Chess (Latimer, Chenies area) where kids can go paddling or fish for tiddlers.

But it's much further away, and parking can be a nightmare.
I agree it is pretty good, though. It was VERY hot last time we were there and I was just standing still. The little people were drenched (although it was the one hot day this summer!....and before you ask why we were there when it would have been better outside, we were there for a party!)

And tennis courts and football pitches and a cricket oval and (soon!) a new cricket pavillion and walking trails through the woods (Chiltern Forest).

Sorry, I love Westwood park, and get a bit enthusiastic! It really is an excellent facility for a small village like LC.

Slightly out of the area, about 10 miles, is Black Park in Iver Heath.

They have organised bug hunts, bat watching etc throughout the year. There is also a very large childrens play area, lots of woods to run around in, a lake which at the weekend often has model boat racing, a cafe and 2 separate toilet areas.

Plus they often have filming there. A few years ago when they were filming the first Harry Potter they filmed external shots for Hagrids House.

Near Black Park there are two other parks, one is Denham Park and the other Langley Country Park.

Thank you, this is all really helpful, I will definitely be exploring Westwood park as it will be walking distance from my house. All I need to do now is find a pre-school or nursery, builder, design a new kitchen and bathroom, knock some walls down, re-decorate, get Billy's name down in a local school for next year and I have just been promoted at work! The next few months are going to be the busiest ever! I may well be relying on this forum for advise in order to keep my sanity
