I wonder if anyone can recommend someone to do a major tidy up of a medium-sized overgrown garden. More brute force than artistry is required: we don't want expensive landscaping, but there is a fair bit to do and we need people who know what's what.
There are some large shrubs and climbers to remove, along with an old patio; some turf to lay; a small patio to build in another part of the garden, and a gate to insert in what is currently a fence and high hedge.
I have absolutely no idea how expensive it might be, so don't know when (or even if) we might proceed with the work. Having some quotations would help us plan.

At a guess - very. I recently had quotes to strip our small front lawn and re-turf it. Only about 50 sq yds - £1000!!!!! I didn't take them up, but hired some proper machinery to scarify and aerate, then re-seeded it myself. It's coming on well now so I saved myself a small fortune.
Unfortunately, I can only remember the name of one of the guys that gave me a quote. He was recommended by other people who have had work done. AB Landscapes, 01494 728499 - he's only just round the corner in Highfield Close.

What shrubs are you removing fran? If i may be so bold, i might be able to rehome some if they'll come out of the ground ok.

Speedy, I doubt there's anything nice enough and in a good enough state for anyone else to want: in most cases several different things are tangled together, but I'll have a look with your suggestion in mind and maybe even send you a photo or too, if I can overcome my shame!
