This sounds like great fun. I've put my name down but I'm not sure how much I'm gonna be in Amersham in December...
I was involved in a small way with Radio Cracker in Amersham several years ago, that was good fun. Sadly I don't have the time to get involved this time.

Other than the bewilderingly overrated Bruce Springsteen, there was a decent play list.

Using Firefox, but had to add streamingneeds and radiochristmas domains to noscript's whitelist.
Didn't try with other browsers.

Thanks for that. Still no joy, sadly - tried with Firefox 3 and Safari (I'm on a Mac). In FF the page loads, but carries on loading after saying the number of listeners, and in Safari it just fails to load. I tried taking the media URL from the source code and running it through a media player but that doesn't work either. I assume my halls internet blocks certain things. Never mind!

All you need to understand is that the way my internet is set up at university is preventing me from listening to Radio Christmas.
The rest of it is just fluff, like Paul and I standing over a car's open bonnet deliberating on what the problem appears to be, but with computers.

Here goes then. But I still mind as I don't, OK probably will never understand
Firefox is a different browser. It does the same job as Internet Explorer. Some more experienced internet users prefer Firefox as it's faster in use and you can add little functions (like spell checkers) to it.
Another reason some prefer it is because it's more secure. One of the little addon functions is called Noscript. It prevents websites running scripts and other things in your browser without your knowledge. Noscript allows the user to supply a list of websites which you trust and so, is less stringent with it's prevention of scripts.
A script is a little program which can do some stuff, but is often used maliciously. Some websites use scripts for good things like being able to remember you are logged in to Amersham.org. Some do nasty stuff like forcing pop ups on you, resizing your browser, changing your homepage etc. Noscript helps prevent the nasty bits while allowing the good bits.
Any clearer?
