Has anyone heard of this total-takeaway.co.uk website that comes up highly when you whack 'amersham food delivery' into google? It says on the site that they're launching in March, and will be offering delivery from any restaurant (based on their home page). Seems like a pretty good idea, as long as the price is right. :P

Has anyone else seen the site or have any information about exactly how it'll work?

I hadn't heard of it until you mentioned it. I've just checked out the website and it's a little bit sparse! So far Wimpy, Lemon Grass, La Baguette and Blue Orchid are the only restaurants that appear to have signed up. Whilst the delivery price doesn't seem too expensive I'm not sure that it's something that I'd use.

Alot of fast food restaurants offer free delivery if you spend so much on food anyway!

That's true, but it'd be good if they can get some restaurants that don't currently offer delivery to do so. I'd fancy a Lasagne, or a Subway delivered to my door! ;)

I've come across this type of service in the States...awesome if everyone in the house wants a different type of food, and it all arrives at the same time.
Also, it reduces the need for individual take-aways to run their own service.
But...it does depend on how much/who (user or supplier) they charge I suppose.

If they can sign up the Amersham Kebab shop, I'd be interested. Quarterpounder with cheese burgers to die for! Seriously, the best shop burger I've ever had.

Hmm. It may arrive at your house at the same time, but if the delivery company has to go to several establishments, some items will have been kept hot (or not!) longer than others.

However, for restaurants that can't justify the cost of a dedicated delivery service, it could be really useful.

This made me smile. Husband and I are big fans of the Kebab shop. We had a superbe kebab shop near our home in Hackney - almost couldn't leave it behind. The Amersham shop has more than made up for it.

I wouldn't use a multi-takeaway service for fear of the food being cold before it got here.

Hackney (was it Green Lane?) has some fantastic kebab shops. I used to be just up the road in Edmonton. I admit I only get burgers from there for myself and they are wondeful. My wife has kebabs from there and she doesn't rave about them in the same way but she says they are very nice.

I’d imagine they’d use insulated delivery bags like pizza places do.

Keeping it hot for too long doesn't overly concern me either. It's only really a cause for concern when food has been kept warm for over an hour and I'd certainly expect the time between it leaving the restaurant and arriving at my house to be less than that!

I gave these guys a go last night. I was pleasantly suprised with their service and £2.50 for delivery was very fair I thought.

I moved to Amersham almost 2 years ago and miss the occasional Kebab, but haven't tried the takeaway on Hill Avenue yet. Will definately give it a try.

Interestingly, I moved from Enfield and still return to visit family and friends. If you ever head over to Edmonton, I can recommend a Turish resaurant there called Kervan Sofrasi (http://www.kervansofrasi.com). Great food, the Kebabs are superb and it is very resonably prices. Went last weekend as a party of 10, including drinks (Beer and Wine) the bill was £12 a head.

total-takeaway.co.uk doesn't seem to work any more. That's a shame I fancied someone else cooking in this hot weather. Lemon Grass do home delivery, but not online ordering and they only accept cash payments.

We've been using http://www.just-eat.co.uk/ have a few nice resturaunts under their belt. Mighty Bite for one, do a wide range of takeawat foods. The chicken isn't up to KFC standards, but there is lots to choose from. The chips are lovely. If I have one complaint about these guys is that they seem to ignore the requested delivery time. Last time they turned up 20 minutes early - not a problem this time as the kids were in bed early, but if they are going to offer delivery slots, they really should stick to them.

I'll probably give The Corriander via Curriesonline another bash. They've always been excellent.
