Simply the best curry in town just has to be at The Spice Society in Whielden Street. Really tasty food from a good menu with none of the ridiculous colouring used by most curry houses (even their rice has only minute dices of carrot to add a splash of colour) and very little fat or grease used in their cooking.

Hello , has anyone tried/uses 'Pathila Tandoori' in Prestwood? It is a take-away only, had a leaflet posted through the door recently. I do love a good curry!:P

The spice society was a great evening out for myself and my friend,I won vouchers for a free meal, drinks not included.
When we went to leave and pay for the drinks they didn't charge us,we only had soft drinks but even so it was still appreciated.

Will be going back again soon, food was out of this world!

I've enjoyed Spice Society, and Coriander is also good... but we prefer Lemongrass.

We also like Spice Society and Coriander, but Lemon Grass is our favourite.

Is The Prince of India still in Gerrards Cross - that used to be amazing? Spice Society is always reliable and traditional (in an English curry sense) and the Raj Gate is a little more contemporary / trendy also with great food but sometimes a little too sweet for my taste. I shall be trying the other establishments mentioned in this post.

I've just come back from The Santhi - took the family for dinner and was really disappointed...not with the food (which was OK) but with the service which was really very poor. Our waiter had absolutely perfected the "my customers are an inconvenience to my evening" style of service and he just didn't really seem to care much about providing us with a great experience.

All the more annoying was the fact that our waiter really couldn't speak English at any level. I had a question about the bill and he just stared at me blankly until I stopped trying to make him understand me and decided the best option was to pay and leave. He did make a point of showing us the button that I needed to press to leave a tip but thankfully I could work I which button I needed to press not to!

So I'd probably opt for The Coriander in Amersham on the Hill (even though it should still be The Iron Horse - damn you Amersham planning department...!) and Spice Society in the Old Town. A shame really as The Santhi has always been an Amersham staple (even though it was better when it was a wine bar!!) and in the early years it was excellent. In a cluttered market for Indian food, which Amersham is, the service is everything and Santhi, sadly, really let itself down today...

Never again...my Santhi days are now officially over...!

If it helps, Westy, you are not the only one downhearted, Santhi is not what it used to be.

We rarely go anywhere other than Mango Lounge. It's as good as anywhere I've eaten, and I've had an awful lot of curry...

Takeaway is ready very quickly too.

We were disappointed with the Santhi. it is not the same since it changed hads.

Coriander for our takeaways and Lemon Graas for a sit in bringing our own beer.

Mango lounge lost us due to a dodgy takeaway.

Shame noe do an Elvis night like the Spice and Herbs (Mango Lounge) used to do.

Ate in the Mango Lounge the other week, pretty unimpressive overall I'm sad to say. Food was a bit meh, service smiley but a bit glazed over, if you know what I mean.

May try Coriander tonight for takeaway, Lemon Grass our favourite in Amersham so far though.

Edit: Coriander was very nice, Pathia was nice and spicy not just sweet like a lot of places seem to do it.

Spice Society for us everytime (although haven't tried Raj Gate yet). I particulary like their Chicken Tikka Dansak and Tandoori Mixed Grill.

Coriander for our takeaways and Lemon Graas for a sit in bringing our own beer.

We enjoy the food from Lemon Grass, but eating in is so cramped and noisy that we only use it for takeaways.

Raj Gate has my vote every time. Food beautifully prepared and presented; service outstanding. Their weekday prix fixe menu is excellent value.

We used to be devotees of the place round the corner, but Raj Gate has won our allegiance.
