So I'll start with apologies if the consensus is that the Grove in Watford is too far for inclusion in Amersham restaurant listings.
I went there the other weekend with the CFO (my missus) and had an excellent evening.
It's buffet-style, but don't let that put you off in the least as the quality is excellent.
There's a number of different stations each serving different styles of food, so you can go back to the ones you like the most ..
http://www.thegrove....kfast_menu.aspx (ignore the breakfast reference in the link, this will show you range of food available).
I enjoyed Thai curry, sushi, various other seafood courses, and even had a plate of perfectly cooked roast beef. So not your traditional combination at all, but perfect for those who like to graze on larger variety of flavours.
It's not cheap, but value-wise I would say it was good as the quality and flavours are exceptional. Cocktails are pricey, so choose carefully - then again you're unlikely to be on a budget if you're going to the Grove in the first place.

The Grove - The Glasshouse. Is this too far away to include?

No apologies needed; it's near enough to be relevant.

I've been to a couple of buffets like that abroad, but didn't know they'd come over here. It certainly makes a change, and probably works well if you have very different taste from whoever else you are eating out with.
