Hi All,

Just thought in case any of you were planning of travelling through Chesham today; my husband was driving on his way to work through Waterside and round by Bois Moor Lane, and has been stopped on the road by Police. A 4x4 has had a nasty accident and plunged into the river/stream there. The road is cordoned off last I heard, with police and ambulaces on scene.

Best to avoid that part of Chesham in the car if you can!

I can understand collisions between the roundabout and the railway bridge but putting a car into the river takes a bit of effort.

I heard a lot of sirens at around 8.30am and was stopped from driving along there at 9.40am but I saw other cars using it at around 10am. I heard, although didn't see, that there were frogmen in the river... but bearing in mind it's only around 4-6 inches deep I'd be surprised if this is true.

I did think that it would take some effort for a 4x4 to be in the water, but that's what the policeman told my husband when he asked why he couldn't drive through there.

The BFP has an article which says "car hit a tree, part of said tree hit a pedestrian and the car went into the river', no mention of a 4x4 or frogmen!

and from the Bucks Examiner http://chesham.bucki...er-in-ches.html

I'm surprised as well! No frost, no heavy rain, the road surface down there isn't great but I don't think the potholes are deep enough to cause a vehicle to swerve. Anyway, the main thing is that there were no serious injuries.
