If it was packed, then evidently there are plenty of people who do think it's a nice pub. It just seems that they and their tastes differ from yours and Eaton's (I haven't been).

Absolutely.
I would agree with Jeff that the place has changed, and I'd say that I preferred the old place. But I'd prefer a thriving business to a business going bust. I will pop in again - probably not on a Friday evening. The ambiance may vary from night to night.
