The forum software was updated on December 19

Regular readers will probably notice some differences.

We are checking to ensure everything is working as it shoudl be, but it may take a few days to iron out any issues.

Please let us know if you are having problems.

Update yes, but i wish the way it looks would be left alone or give members the option of reverting back to the old look

Unfortunately it's claimed to be progress. In order to ensure continued support for the forum, I need to keep it updated to the latest release of the software, although I do try and delay the updates if I don' think there is a pressing need. One of the reasons for this update is to make the forum easier to read on mobile devices such as Iphones and Ipads, more and more people are accessing the web with these things now and the forum makers need to keep on top of things else the likes of Facebook will take all the traffic!

I like it - it looks more modern. I like the HOT signs by the active news items. The pictures for members makes the site more lively. Some of the interactive bits (signing in etc) are much clearer. It's all good!

I've been running my forum on this version for a while now.

It does look very different, but there's loads of new features and a lot of security and performance improvements under the bonnet that users may not be aware of, but are very important.

You will get used to and appreciate it in time. There is no option for users to have the old version - there's been structural changes to the code that runs it.

There is a link right at bottom of page saying something like "mark as read" click it and a sub menu opens letting you chose what to mark as read

Works for me just fine. Try this. When it asks you to log back in again, refresh the page.

Tried it but i remained logged out. I've tried it with chrome and firefox and both refuse to remember username and password. I deleted the saved password and cache while i was at it but now neither browser prompts me to remember it again.

I will try asking in the support forum of the forum company, but what operating system do you use?

I have a similar problem with the BBC website, which refuses to remember that I live in Amersham. I thought it was a problem with a new version of Firefox but it's just the same with IE.

David, I use Chrome, and the BBC website remembers my location.

Works fine with firefox for me... sounds to me as if you have some sort of cookie blocking going on and that's what's causing it to fail to remember you.

Chrome is even worse - it forgets where I am if I just move to a different site and then back to BBC.

I can see the cookie being created but if I close Firefox and reopen it, the cookie is gone. Very strange but not the end of the world.
