Amersham hill is one bad spot for this, there are two national speed limit applies signs yet drivers continue to do 25 - 30mph down there. Would you drive at 30mph on a motorway? No you wouldn't, so why do it here? There are two signs, white with black stripe, one on each side of the road... look at them! It's frustrating enough trying to get through the terrible traffic outside the beacon school at 8am, only to be held up by captain slow down the hill as well.

And often there is just no point in driving at the speed limit. For example, what is the point of going up to 60 down Amersham Hill into Chesham,, when you know perfectly well that there will be a queue at the bottom?

It's approximately half a mile between the speed signs which suggests that the difference between driving at 60mph and 30mph is a saving of 30 seconds. However, travelling at 60mph, you wouldn't have time to take in the ever-changing woodland, the farm animals on the left and the valley over the christmas tree plantation as you zoom down the hill. But, with only a mere 86400 seconds available in a day, you won't have wasted 30 of them.

I think this is just one of those things where people will always disagree. I drive down the hill into chesham as many as 2-3 times a day and always try to zoom down. Im driving to get somewhere not take in the scenery that i see 3 times a day every day.

And knowing me I am always in a rush so will be hurrying somewhere or another and it does frustrate me if people dont speed up when the speed limit changes.

And there's the point that many seem to be missing or ignoring. You're entitled to drive at the speed limit and within reason, someone driving slower than the speed limit, holding you up MIGHT be guilty of driving without consideration for other road users.

If the road conditions, car maintainance and visibility are good then driving at 45mph on a motorway is dangerous. If you don't want to drive at 70mph in good visibility then stick to side roads with lower speed limits and where you are less likely to be involved or cause an accident.

At last we agree on something

although quite what the driver was on who was going down woodside road at 5.40am wednesday at 15mph is anyones guess. I easily overtook them doing 30 and the road was completely clear, ie no ice.

It's perfectly OK to drive at 56mph on the motorways.

Not a Crown Taxi, as far as I'm aware, Not sure who is worse, the scooter with his non working brake lights or the taxi who decides an undertake is the best manoeuvre.

Note how the scooter brakes on the speed camera markings. The speed limit here is 50, but it's not unusual for drivers to slow down here just because there's a speed camera even though they aren't speeding.

Reminds me of the car I followed on the A414 out of Hemel once. He was carefully driving dead on the 40mph speed limit. Beside the speed camera near the top of the hill he makes an emergency break application, drives over the speed camera markings at 30 and then accelerates back up to the speed limit.

I try to drive at a safe distance but it was still a bit of a "brown trouser" moment.

Compare the car I followed once doing a steady 30 in a 50 limit (too much oncoming traffic to overtake). When we reached a 30 limit he suddenly floored the accelerator and vanished over the horizon.

Around here its the ones who don't want to get their 4*4s muddy, stop in the middle of a passing place in a single track road with 3/4 of a car width either side and wait for you to back up.

Ah yes, you're right but not a Chiltern taxi driver. We must have hackney/private hire plates displayed on the outside and inside of the vehicle.

I'm afraid to say the standard of taxi driving in that area is appalling. About a quarter of the videos I keep (ie, ones that are interesting) feature taxi drivers.

Clearly this has nothing to do with your chaps, who I, by and large, have nothing but respect for, but you can see how the trade might get a bad reputation.

That indicates that it is NOT a taxi (hackney carriage) but is registered for private hire (minicab) in Greater London.
