I don't know if it's open or not but I noticed today that they had a huge sign in the window saying something like 'winner of best restaurant in 2011'.

need to be careful not to leap to conclusions...
I have worked for a company that had raids at its plants and they had done everything correctly but suffered from employees who were defrauding them (and the border agency).
But also it may turn out that the circumstances are legitimate.

I went there with a friend last night, the restaurant was open but empty... We were told they had problems with the kitchen and hence were unable to do business. They were very apologetic.
