Hot on the heels of the news of cutting back the hours of police stations (http://www.amersham....?showtopic=4223), there are proposals to reduce the hours of the minor injuries unit at High Wycombe hospital: http://www.bucksfree...ormer_A_E_ward/

The only time we've needed anything like that since we've been in Amersham, we went to Stoke Mandeville, but I expect some Amersham people might prefer Wycombe.

The strange thing is that the minor injuries unit in stoke mandeville is right next to the A&E!I spoke to the registrar and she told me that even though I thought I was in the minor infuries unit,she told me I was in A&E.I asked for the mnor injuries unit when arriving and was sitting under the sign saying minor injuries.Kind of makes you wonder what minor injuries unit is for!Possibly makes no difference just that you have to wait longer.

Apparently this has happened. Given that Wycombe is probably the nearest hospital to get to in an emergency, shouldn't there have been more local publicity sent out by the health authority?

I can understand that wycombe hospital's current location is poor, the surrounding roads are usually heavily congested and ti would've been better located out of town.Part of he reason Stoke Mandeville hospital works so well is that it's not centrally located within town. Closing the Wycombe A&E though I think is daft, every time I've been to Stoke Mandeville Hospital A&E it's packed.May'be a co-incidence, but could also be that we don't have the capacity to take on Wycombe's A&E casualties.
