Having bought a new car I'm going through the inevitable 'let's keep it nice and clean' for the first six months before I just put up with it being dirty all the time.

I don't have time to do it myself (never mind the hosepipe ban) and although I've used the Arc on Chesham Road before, I don't really like those automatic machines; they miss as much as they clean.

What I'm looking for is a local place that'll do a mini valet for a reasonable price i.e. one that can be justified every couple of weeks.

Not bothered about mobile or premises, as long as they're local.

Mr Bubbles on the way to Great Missenden is great.

Mr Bubbles is also expensive.

Pay an extra £1 to Arc and they will "hand spray" your car before it goes through. The end result is pretty good for the price, and I think they also offer a valet service.

Yes, it does help, but even with that my problem with the Arc job is the wheels are never properly cleaned, with the bits 'in shadow' of their gunk/hose and then the machine always having brake dust left on them.

Mr Bubbles on the way to Great Missenden is great.

They don't appear to have a website. How much do they charge?

It is £8 for an external wash and this includes all and everything - and smear free. I used to use Arc, but the car was never clean, especially if there was excessive mud or bird poo, for example. Mr Bubbles has a loyalty scheme; every 8th wash is free.

I like ARC, but I suspect that BawBag has higher standards than moi... :D

I might be sad, but I do feel a sense of Zen as I drift through that machine. A couple of minutes of just sitting there and doing nothing.

I can recommend Aqua mobile valeting in Chesham. Have a google, I'm sure he will appear. He does an excellent job, but not sure about prices.

The guys at the bottom of Cameron Road in Chesham always do a good job for us.

For something really special I would thoroughly recommend Steven Gladwin who lives in my road - http://www.autosheen...k/stevengladwin

He spends a long time on each car and is absolutely meticulous - he got our car feeling like it was showroom new after several years of carting around our 3 kids, which as any parent knows causes no end of damage! I suspect he's not the cheapest, but does a fantastic job.

Tried Bubbles at the weekend - very impressed, certainly much better value than the Arc. For £8 they give the car a good clean, spray wax, properly wash the wheels, clean inside the door shuts and dry the car. Took a bit longer than the automatic, but a much better job.

They've stopped doing the loyalty scheme though.
