Hi

I am just moving to the area and my daughter has been told she can sit the 11+ end of August. We are coming from an area that has no 11+ so this is new to her. Can anyone recommend a good tutor who can work with her every day

regards

Jeanine

I haven't used them. But a friend of mine used "Lucky Gecko" based in Berkhamsted and Gerards Cross - www.luckygecko.com - she was happy with the tuiton that her son received. Good Luck.

I know one of the founding ladies of Lucky Gecko and she's lovely. I also know two people that have used her for 11+ tutoring and they've been very happy with her and both their children passed easily.

However, I know that the company gets very booked up for 11+ tutoring so it's possible you may have left it too late!

If you can't find a tutor, I believe that you can get old 'sample' 11+ papers and books and tutor her yourself but I don't have children so may have got that wrong.

I'd recommend Susan Daughtrey. She runs classes from by Chalfont St. Peter football club. Her telephone number is 01753 883309. She does summer crammer courses but I'm not sure if these are only open to current course attendees.

And if you go that route, be sure you use materials that are specific to Bucks, especially as time is tight.

There are shops in Bucks that sell generic 11+ materials: they omit some essential topics, but do include ones that won't be tested! Avoid those at all costs, especially as the test is so soon.

When I did it with my son, about 8 years ago, IPS materials were the ones to use for Bucks, and the range included an excellent booklet that explained the specific tactics for particular question types (one or two have a particular knack). I'm not sure if things have changed, but try the Bucks section of http://www.elevenplu...1plus/index.php, which was very active and also had links to buy the IPS materials. Good luck.

I don't know if they still do, but the library used to stock books of practice tests specifically tailored to the Bucks 11+
