I just saw this article on tree planting in Amersham, sounds like this initially to stop verge parking, This would work as I never park my car under trees dues to the sticky sap or bird cr*p that lands below the spread

I have to say i fully support this idea and love tree lined streets - i think the council should be really brave and go with some trees with edible fruit for the birds and in case you get hungry on the way to work :-)

Trees also provide shading which keeps the tarmac cooler reducing the heat island effect which helps on these hot evenings

In fact i am in two minds to just go and plant one right now!!!

A lovely idea, but given the number of trees being felled precisely because they are beside roads and railway track, I hope suitable species are chosen.
