Well hello... as a newbie on this forum I thought I might just as well introduce myself.
My name is Ash, and Funkydoodycool is the name of my website (add a www. and a .co.uk and away you go), on which you can find samples of and links to more of my art work, which is my biggest hobby. Asides from that, I listen to music at any available time, I play too many video games, and I love cycling. Amersham's got some nice woodland around, although they're too small, and I do get fed up having to ride back up to the top of the hill whichever way I go from home! I also spend a little too much time browsing internet forums.
I also play guitar, and am currently putting together a demo in order to get a band together. Some of you may have heard of Gareth Ainsworth's (QPR winger) band, Dog Chewed the Handle. Once upon a time I was in that band (before he was), and I've recently got back in touch with those guys, so will hopefully be supporting them on a few gigs soon. I also play open mic at the Horns in Watford from time to time, although less so since I moved from Watford and now have no car.
I grew up between Watford and Rickmansworth, moving to Amersham 6 months ago to be closer to work, and because its not such a bad little town. Fine, you've got the kids hanging around and your fair share of ASBO cases, but then so has every town in the country.
As for work... I spent 10 years in insurance, at one point running a small brokerage office, before realising that £10,500 is not adequate pay for the work I was doing (I was young!). I've gone through most areas of insurance in that time, working towards setting up my own brokerage, when I got fed up of not being able to afford my rent. So I moved in with my gran, and got a job with... London Underground, and started saving. The insurance thing is something I may go back to, but to be honest I love my job now, more than any other I've done. I get to meet loads of nice people every day, and doing shifts may mean getting up at 04.30 every morning, but it also means that by 2 I've got the day to myself to do my own work (as listed above). For a bit of further background, I took this job to follow in my grandfather's footsteps. He was a manager on London Buses until he retired in the 80s.
Current plans, asides from the band and selling some of my artwork, include the possiblity of moving to Cornwall and setting up a B&B, something that won't happen for a few years yet!
