Gilbey's serve modern British food of a high standard at fairly moderate prices. The dining rooms are on the small side, but the interior's characterful, comfortable and the service excellent. Highly recommended.

They have a website, too:-

I went there the other day for a midweek lunch.
It's a nice place to be, certainly. The food was above average and the service was excellent.
The soup of the day was absolutely scorching hot and the portions were a little small.
Personally, as I dont eat fish, the menu was a bit restricted.

An excellent local restaurant that we've enjoyed as a couple and as a larger family group in the upstairs dining room, though I disagree with Nathan about it being the best in Amersham. I think that award definitely goes to the nearby Artichoke (though that is a little more expensive) - see Artichoke thread.
