Getting away from the Swan (fleetingly), there's a pub in Aylesbury that does a fish finger, cheese and bacon sandwich. Sounded bizarre and horrid to me, but perhaps you'd like it? :o (I presume someone does, or they wouldn't print it on the menu.)

Is that a Bird's Eye fish finger or a battered one? The Swan fish fingers are battered.

If it's a bird's eye fish finger with bacon and cheese in a sandwich then I'd eat it..... yum yum.

We had Sunday Lunch at the Swan a couple of weekends ago - it was lovely, very impressed with the food, service and decor. Would definately go back.

Relatives of ours went there on Friday - early evening (6 ish) and said that although they were only one of about 2 or 3 couples, the service was terrible and incredibly slow. I can't remember what they ate but I certainly got the feeling that they were not impressed and didn't intend to go back.
Hopefully it was just a one-off.

It looks very good, though I think it might be worth their while taking some new photos on a sunny day - even if that's a while away.

I have been reminded to update on our meal at The Swan - thanks Mel!

We went there last Saturday for our works christmas do,there were 14 of us I think.

Very nice decor, nice atmosphere and the food was lovely but the portions of food were extremely small, which was a shame as we didn't get our meal until gone 9pm so we were all starving.

It was a nice place to go,although no christmas crackers or hats either!!!

absolutely.

I'd definitely recommend it. My wife and I have eaten there at least three times this year and on each occasion really enjoyed our meal. We found the staff friendly and attentive, the menu varied and tempting and the prices reasonable.

We just ate lunch at the Swan and it was simply disgusting. Easily tops the previous worst restaurant meal I've had, and that was in Morocco a good many years ago (most of the food we had in Morocco was great, so please don't read anything into that!).

I could elaborate, but I'd have to detail the deficiencies of every single thing we ordered (yes, even the drinks!) so I'll leave you with just this - everything tasted of week-old, thrice-burnt olive oil. My rhubarb crumble was even served swimming on a plate of it. Clearly, whoever is operating the kitchen is entirely incompetent, and the ovens have not been cleaned for a very long time. Genuinely disgusting.

A friend and I had lunch there about a month ago and it was awful. I complained (they have a link to a customer satisfaction survey on their website).

Grilled feta was a mushy white mess, the baked squash was watery and soggy, the 'warm' salad was cold. The added chilli was one tiny ring of re-constituted dried chilli.

Service was slow and disinterested: we never got our starter of bread and dipping oil.

As for wine? Not chilled, over-priced.

Terrible.

BTW: Why is my 'warn status' showing? LOL.

At least you told them, so maybe they'll improve. Did you pay the full amount, or save your complaint for their website?

The box is empty and if you hover over it, it says 0%, so you're fine.

I saved the complaint for the website - we didn't get charged for the starter, and the meal was not expensive.

Does everyone have 'the box', or are you expecting bad things from me? :-))

Yes, though I assume that unless you're an admin, you can only see your own. It's a feature of the forum software that we rarely use.

... or are you expecting bad things from me? :-))

Well, I wasn't, but now I'm not so sure! ;)
