Amersham's Mobile Phone Masts

For many people the location of mobile phone masts is of interest. People may wish to know where masts are for reasons of coverage / reception, health fears or how they impact on views.

Whatever your reason for wanting to know where masts are, below are details of where masts are in the Amersham area. The purpose of this page is just to provide information. I offer no opinion as to alleged health issues or planning issues. You may be surprised to know just how many or how few masts there are. The exact locations I cannot give, nor do I guarantee this information to be correct or complete, there may well be other masts or some of the masts may not now be in use.

The above sites were discovered by visual observation and looking on the web site www.sitefinder.radio.gov.uk/ here. This site finder web site can show locations of all the mobile phone base stations in Great Britain and also provides other information such as height and power. Although I had spotted a few base stations in Amersham, I was surprised to find out just how many there were from the site finder web site .

The above would seem to indicate that Amersham is dominated by Orange and T Mobile. However, this is probably misleading. I understand that Vodafone and MM02 transmit mainly on a different frequency (900) to Orange and T Mobile (1800). One of the characteristics of the 900 frequency is that the signal travels further than the 1800 frequency, requiring fewer base stations / masts. Also, not every mast transmits at the same power, some are very low power designed to cover a small area. The height of the mast will also determine the area covered.

Recent additions to the masts have come from Hutchison who operate the "3" network

If anyone knows of any other masts, or corrections, please email the web master

The old nurses home at Amersham hospital used to have a lot of masts on its roof. I understand some of these were mobile phone masts. The nurses home was demolished in 2002.
