Pictorial Tour of Amersham
The River Misbourne

River Misbourne - Badminton Court
There used to be mills at each end of Old Amersham on the Misbourne. The Mills have also in their time seen use as a brewery and perfume factory (Goya). Above is Badminton Court with the Misbourne flowing underneath it. The building, formerly the Weller brewery (sold in 1929 to Benskins) and then Goya is now offices.
River Misbourne
The Misbourne flowing past the cemetery. For many years, the river has dried up probably caused by the reduced rainfall and high amounts of pumping further up stream. The river bed all but disappeared in many places. A multi million pound scheme was undertaken over the past few years to bring water back to the Misbourne and it is a pleasure to see it flow again. Although as can be seen below, the river still dries up.

River Misbourne
In 2001 work started on repairing the Misbourne's bank. Work now completed.
River Misbourne - Town Mill
The River Misbourne by Town Mill. In 2000 the Misbourne burst its banks, flooding a number of properties along High Street and causing me to get wet feet when taking this picture from a flooded public footpath.
