Views of Old Amersham

Viewed from not far from the Martyrs memorial, a view over the roof top of Tesco with bury Farm and Gore Hill crossing the by pass leading to wards the water tower by Coleshill

Again viewed from the Martyrs Memorial, the hospital at the end of Whielden Street with new housing around it. The former 1960 nurses home tower block and Misbourne Unit have been demolished, improving the view.

Viewed from Rectory or Parsonage Woods, a general view of the Old Town.

Again viewed from Rectory or Parsonage Woods, a view of Old Amersham. For many years this view was ruined by gas holders which were visible to the left. These were demolished in the 1980s

A closer view of Old Amersham. St. Mary's dominates the sky line, to the right is the old brewery, now Badminton Court. Elmodesham House stands out in the High Street. Towards the top of the picture the tower block was the Chenies Nurses Home, this was demolished in the Summer of 2002 as part of the Amersham Hospital site redevelopment, the white building to the right was the Misbourne Unit of the hospital, also now demolished.

The above picture was taken from the top of the Chenies Nurses home (now demolished) at Amersham Hospital. The white building centre right is the British Legion on Whielden Street. The white cottages in the middle are in The Platt, Tesco can be seen top of the picture.
